The LS-GE type mining drill is in wide use all over the Inara solar system and is popular among both small time miners and big corporations due to its low cost of manufacturing and maintenance. This mining drill is fully automated and features long range sensors and ore scanners so once it depletes a field it fires up its engines and moves to new richer mining ground, thus it never stops the harvesting process. Once its on-board cargo hold is full, it ejects the cargo in a small container which is then picked up by cargo drones that deliver the goods to their respective owners.

A network with this type of acceleration gates is currently under construction in the IO-1 sector after a period of two years of gathering donations from local miners and business owners. The purpose of these gates is to give a significant boost to the cruising speed of large transport ships which are departing hourly from the local mining outpost. Once completed, the network will increase the traffic which goes in and out of the sector and most likely will turn IO-1 into a major hub for miners and trading convoys.

The Vandal class ship belongs to the "Golden Chrysanthemum" outlaws who control most of the Irimia-3 sector. These pilots are former miners who got laid off after the infamous "Ice Blockade" protest, now turned into criminals and aces when it comes to piloting and they are known to be very aggressive and usually attack on sight without any sort of warning. Due to having no affiliations with any other groups, criminal or otherwise, their resources are few so they usually resort to piracy or raids on colonies and transport convoys in order to capture the necessary goods to build their ships, modules and ammo. The Vandal is their only ship model, built from the ground up by a few captured engineers from the Henova corporation, however, due to its modular design, it is excellent for any task at hand. In a hangar, during a couple of hours, a ship can be easily converted from an interceptor to a bomber(for example) if that's what's needed for the mission at hand. Their design does not excel at anything in particular, such as speed or firepower, but due to the ease with which modules can be added or removed, this makes the ship a very successful design overall. Those modules that can be upgraded include: the cargohold can be expanded, more gun mounts can be added, better sensors can be fitted, engines can be swapped for either speed or power to push more cargo etc. etc.

A wile ago when I was playing Deus Ex Human Revolution I saw a model like this one in the game and I really liked how simple it was yet how cool it looked so now I replicated it and shared it with you guys. It's very low poly and I made it in such a way that you can easily move/remove or add more books or drawers thus you could make endless variations of this model. In the preview pic I only showed 3 possible variations but you are free to create your own to fit your style better. Also, for example, the texture can be easily edited, starting with the details, such as the numbers on the books up to the main colors so this can be easily turned into a white/grey piece of furniture for a laboratory ... anyway you got my point.

Bom Interceptor

This "Bom" type interceptor was built from the ground up by the smugglers group which call themselves "2ne1". It is primarily used to intercept and attack rival groups that may venture into their territory and sometimes can be seen attacking police ships, most likely as a decoy so that the smuggler's main transport ships could pass through the sector without problems. The exact specs of this ship are unknown however it is capable of extreme speeds and able to make sharp turns at a glance, which is probably why no one has managed to shoot down one of these ships yet. Recently this interceptor made a name for itself when one such a ship, piloted by a 2ne1 ace, took on a transport convoy guarded by five heavy fighters and not only did it came out victorious from the fight but he also destroyed the transport ship, which was carrying luxury food and fine wines destined for a celebration held in the honor of a local governor. Needless to say the celebration got cancelled and the news of the attack aired on the info networks all over the sector. Everyone wondered how one ship could destroy so easily five heavily armed ships piloted by highly trained men and this made the "Bom" interceptor and its pilot a local infamous celebrity. A classified police report which was leaked recently to the mass media states that as a result of all this exposure, the ATMC corporation got their eyes on this new design with advanced maneuvering capabilities and are now negotiating with 2ne1 for the interceptor blueprints.

Dara Mothership

A few years back, the pirates captured this "Dara" class mothership during one of their raids on an outpost in the border worlds. It was a daring move on their part as at that particular time this ship was protected by a squadron of elite police ships because the mothership was carrying several containers with experimental handheld weapons. Due to this extremely valuable cargo, several pirate clans formed a temporary alliance in order to breach the police defense perimeter and after a quick yet brutal fight, with severe loses on both sides, the pirates managed to board the ship. The original plan was for them to jettison the cargo pods and pick them up using a a transport ship, however the transporter was critically damaged during the battle as it was approaching the drop coordinates, so the pirates were faced with a choice, either pull back and accept a major defeat or try something they haven't considered before, not even as a backup plan, to capture the mothership and try make a run for it. This new plan proved to be far easier to execute than expected as during the fight, the civilian personnel on board abandoned the ship so the pirates only had to crack the flight computer's main code, which is what they're best at, and power up the ship's cruise engines.
Nowadays, after the pirates which formed the temporary alliance fought among themselves, only one pirate clan has control over the mothership and this gives them a tactical advantage during all their attacks, as this way they can attack any target of opportunity and get out of there fast, due to the ship's advanced cruise engines, before the police or military can intervene. Right now, this sector of space is notorious for ships being looted or disappearing completely and word goes that the pirates plan to expand their control over several neighboring sectors.

The Motary building, which now is 4* hotel, belongs to a man known only as "Sayid". The building became famous after Sayid trapped a notorious criminal inside and killed him in hand to hand combat. Story starts 8 months ago when a military patrol intercepted an unmarked ship flying below the radar in the northern mountains and after brief chase they managed to damage the ships engine which crash landed in a forest only a few hundred meters from the Motary building. The ship's pilot survived the crash and sought refuge inside the building. By the time the military pilots landed, the criminal already had several hostages taken and had activated a handhelp bomb powerful enough to destroy the building and kill everyone in it. While the military was coming up with a plan to eliminate the threat, Sayid, the owner of the building, took advantage of a moment of weakness when the criminal was beating up a hostage and attacked him. The fight only lasted a few seconds and the criminal was knocked out however during the struggle the bomb, which was fused into his arm, started an automated countdown. Faced with certain death and having to come up with a quick plan to save everyone inside, Sayid took the decision to sever the criminal's arm using a laser knife and ran as fast as he could down to the basement where he threw the arm inside the building's massive vault. A split second after the vault door sealed the bomb detonated, fortunately the vault hold the explosion inside. Following these actions, Sayid became a local celebrity and so did his hotel which now is a tourist attraction after a high tech dynamic statue was placed in front of it showing a slow-motion fight scene between the two men accurately recreated after the images caught by the surveillance cameras.

Built by Danno Rya, one of the wealthiest free traders in this solar system, the Kono station is placed at the heart of the IR-60 asteroid field which lies deep in Guerrilla controlled territory. To secure this very lucrative business, Danno allows Guerrilla ships to resupply here offering them high quality weapons and ammo at a substantial discount in exchange for safe passage of the limited number of miners who make a living in this sector. This deal is not seen well by the military and other traders but there's little they can do as Danno's big pockets have the loyalty of many high ranked officials who make sure this business will run smoothly no matter what.

The pictures were taken by a spy drone of the Guerrilla forces and what it shows you is a small military outpost located deep into Guerrilla territory. Usually such building end up in ruins soon after these pictures of them are released to the press, so, knowing that, it's safe to assume that the military might have already evacuated that base as at the moment it does not have enough ships to protect each and everyone of its assets in the entire solar system.

The Typhoon Launcher

This weapon can be usually seen guarding the space stations along the "Ceral" Trade Route. It comes with an on-board targeting system but can also be remote-controlled by a human if somehow the system gets corrupted by the Hackers during their assaults.
The design is simple, based on ancient designs used by the military in the past, back on Earth.
The Typhoon S1-12 has the ability to launch a myriad of missile types, from the latest models with advanced electronics down to the dumbest and most basic missiles, which is why even the best pirate pilots fear it.

Brief description
Galaxy Empire is a futuristic game based on a continuation of the story from the previous two games by the same name. It is a mix of FPS and space based arcade simulation. The single player side will be an open-ended and story based missions to discover what happened to a previous set of colonist who left many years before. It will also deal with current colonies that are disappearing as well. The MP side will be mostly open-ended with the option of player's to complete missions similar to the SP mode.

Target aim
The single player software will be free. The server software will not. It will also consist of a global server which will not be sold, this is to keep out illegitimate servers since there is no direct connect option.

Compensation
None for the time being, that will change later if the server starts selling.

Technology
DirectX 9 is the base renderer using HLSL 3. This is so the game can be played on Windows XP and later versions of Windows. The game is being built from the ground up, it does not use anyone else's game engine. Content within the game is based on freely available tools such as XnView or wordpad. All content is scripted in through plain text INI files. Models are currently based on the .x format with a custom format later on.

Additional info
This game is still in the initial development stage. Due to the massive nature of the project it will take some time to develop everything. It is based far into the future and the in-game design will reflect this. It is part mystery, sci-fi and story telling. Additional areas will be added such as full modding support and automatic updating of said mods. The main part of the game will be from the player's POV but there will be additional support for empire building. Procedural generation may be used for making non-scripted areas of the galaxy.

Hey guys, it's been a while since I took a break from the 3D world ... well, I kinda think it's about time to get back to it, especially since I noticed that there are still people who visit my blog daily even thou I haven't made a new post in months now. This can only make me feel all fuzzy inside :)

My first step was to update my blog, so here it is, a new custom theme with all kinds of improvements over the older standard theme. Hope you guys like it :)

My next step is to install the necessary software for models and start creating models all over again. Let's see if I'm rusted or ... if I still "got it" ;)

Morena Smuggler Ship

I guess we could say this ship came with a bang, why ? .... well, today, a small guerrilla force attacked a military transport convoy that was shipping weapons to one of the army's outposts in the border lands. There were 4 fighters, 1 interceptor and yes, the Morena smuggling ship. It's funny actually, the army tried so hard to learn more about this ship lately and now Morena almost came to their door, stealing a significant number of ship-to-ship weapons which most likely will end up fitted on guerrilla ships by the end of the day. Unlike anything else built by the guerrillas, this ship is made for two purposes: transport and electronic warfare. It does not have any offensive weapons at the moment however it does have an impressive array of devices that help it get through enemy territory with ease, some of these are: "Target Disruption Relay" - "Sensor Dampeners" - "Omnidirectional EM Pulse" and many more, however the most notable is the "Signature Decoy" device which launches several small automated drones that replicate the ship's radar signature thus making the enemy radar think there's an entire fleet of ships going through that sector. Brilliant !

Guerrilla Attack

Last night the Guerrilla attacked the military mining installations on the Ke'yra asteroid from the border zone. These installations supplied the military fighters in the sector with fuel and this area is heavily contested by the guerrillas and local pirates, however no one was expecting an attack on this location at this time. Why at this time ? Cause recently word was out that guerrillas have designed and built a new destroyer model, named "Anna-V", and were planning to attack a military objective, as such, more forces were dispatched in the area to guard these installations, enough to scare away any common attacking fleet. Everyone expected that this destroyer would be one of a kind, built with spare parts from the scrap yard, as are all the other of their ships, yet when the attack began, a local spy satellite took pictures of 20 distinct Guerrilla Destroyers. This took the defensive force by surprise as they were not ready for a confrontation with a fleet this big and now this sector is labeled as "Outlaw", with few law enforcement fighters patrolling, least until the military retake the asteroid or establish another fuel supply line.
The news agencies all across Inara now name this attack as the "Inara-V Variations".

Word goes that this fighter was built for pirates but that's just a legend. Originally the Ghoul belonged to the army but once they got new fighter models they sent these ships back to the manufacturer to be destroyed, however many transports were intercepted by pirates who stole the ships, thousands of them. The pirates mocked the military for this theft for years and so did everyone else.

This is among the largest stations that can be found in the "Inara" solar system. It was built in orbit of the exotic planet P3-X. The planet's harsh environment makes living on the surface impossible yet the view from space is the most beautiful from the entire solar system. This station was built for the elite class of "Inara", those that can afford the astronomical costs of an apartment in one of its 4 domes. It was rated 5 stars by the "Fujens" tourism magazine as being the most luxurious destination for the rich and famous.

Mal Hideout

A spy probe recently took a few snapshots of the most protected hideout in the solar system. This base belongs to "Costi", the infamous leader of the pirates and is probably the most fierce-looking base known to date. Since the last time anyone attempted to take a "peek" at this hideout it would seem "Costi" has upgraded his HQ with technical equipment, the purpose of this upgrade remains unknown but word goes he's building a weapon, however that's no more than rumor probably spread by the pirates themselves to deter anyone from going to close to this base. Previously known as "Adder", nowadays this asteroid has earned by word of mouth a new name, "Mal Hideout", "Mal" meaning "bad", most likely referring to it's predator-like look and feel and the fact that it's housing the most proeminent figure of the pirate underworld.

The army started a secret project called "The Spectral Passage" not long ago and has done its best to keep it far from the public ... that is until just recently when all hell broke loose.

Two years ago ...

A scientist exploring the outskirts of the solar system picked up on his scanner an unknown energy signature originating from an object that was located far outside the system. Since his vessel was poorly equiped for a journey this long, he sent his gathered data to the army, which shortly responded by sending a small fleet of ships to the signature coordinates after analyzing the data send to them. What they discovered there was something that went beyond the known laws of physics. They named the anomaly ZPE, "Zero Point Energy", and proceeded to build an outpost to research it. The ZPE was trapped inside an asteroid made up of unique minerals which practically kept this energy suspended in a bubble, much like a shield and, as they would discover later, also stopped the harmful radiations from radiating to the surrounding areas.

One year ago ...

They are still experiencing difficulties in completing the outpost because of intense unnatural electro-magnetic activity near the asteroid which renders useless any electrical equipment in less than one month, so the outpost's equipment needs to be renewed on a steady basis. Even so, they managed to accuratelly scan the ZPE and all the scientists participating in the project have reached a consensus ... it would seem this energy could be harvested and used to open bridges to parallel universes, something that could pave the way for unprecedented technological breakthroughs.

Less than a week ago ...

This project's worst case scenario came true. It would seem one of the scientists that did not approve the use of the ZPE to power the creation of an inter-dimensional bridge tried to stop the project by handing over the outpost's coordinates to the Guerrillas. What happened next is being aired on all the news stations throughout Inara. Soon after the guerrillas received the coordinates and understood the magnitude of the project and it's importance to the army, they sent an attack fleet to destroy this military objective. During the attack, some of the guerrilla ships broke through the defense perimeter and engaged the automated turrets based on the asteroid. The energy based weapons used by them destabilized the minerals keeping the ZPE trapped inside the asteroid and the zero point energy was released. In a matter of seconds huge time dilation waves started sweeping the entire region of space accompanied by thousands of pockets of exotic matter that ripped in pieces anything that was close by. Some of these pockets turned into wormholes linking, some to parallel universes and others to galaxies so far away they're considered to be near the edge of the Universe. The asteroid itself, from which all this originated, turned into a sphere of an unknown liquid matter with an immense gravitational field that pulled towards it all the vessels in the area which remained intact after the attack and engulfed most of the outpost's structure. A few minutes later the liquid sphere started reverting back to it's original shape and composition and trapped those ships in it. Moments later, much of the exotic matter started fading away however a few of the wormholes created this way seem to have become stable and are still open. One such wormhole is in the middle of Inara's sun and by the looks of it, its presence is having an influence on the sun's activity.

Present ...

Everything is back to normal in the solar system now however those few wormholes are still open and it seems they are stable enough to travel through them, but no one knows for sure what lies beyond ... the promise of fortune, new technology or places where our laws of physics don't even apply. All things considered, for the moment the scientists are extremely concerned about the wormhole in the middle of the sun. First scans indicate some of the nuclear matter from the star is escaping through the wormhole at a huge rate, destabilizing the chemical processes inside the sun, if this continues for long, the star could go supernova ...

This the latest attempt of the "Outlaw Consortium" to build a faster-than-light travel system. It's basically a wormhole generator that allows their forces to mount quick attacks on unsuspecting ships and facilities all over Inara .... anytime & anywhere.

Serenity Outpost

A large number of ships belonging to the pirates and the local law enforcements clashed not long ago in remote sector of the Asaris debris field. This field is supposed to contain the remnants of a world once destroyed by a comet impact and is a popular playing ground for any scientist with some spare time and a science ship in his hands. Pirates usually hunt down these scientists to capture their ships and sell them on the black market, as such there's been an increased presence of police and military patrols in the area. Large scale conflict between these parties was unavoidable and less than one year ago it happened .... during the battle some of the army bombers shot a few torpedoes to bring down the larger pirate ships, however one torpedo missed it's target and impacted on an asteroid, what happened after that came as a shock for everyone, in more ways than one. It would seem that particular asteroid contained some elements previously unknown which become very unstable when something impacts them, thus when the torpedo hit, a huge EM shockwave originated from the asteroid and instantly destroyed all ships inside the Asaris field and a few more that were close by. The asteroid itself cracked and got split in half. Nowadays, scientists have built this station to allow them easier access to the secrets of these unknown elements hidden in the asteroid and named the station " Serenity Outpost", referring to the calm that set in Asaris after that EM blast.

Morena - Final Stage

A spy drone managed to take a snapshot of the Morena wile it's engines and shield systems were being tested, however the drone was damaged by a guerrilla interceptor ship on its way back and that affected the picture file stored in it's main memory databank. Due to the serious degradation of the file only a black-and-white version of the picture could be restored.

The recent developments on the battlefield forced the army to create a new ship that could accompany their main forces during offensive strikes on enemy outposts. This is a bomber belonging to the "Cobra" ship family. It is packed with missiles to the point where it could take out several dozen objectives in a single round before heading back to the base to rearm. Its simple presence makes everyone think twice whether to enter it's defensive permiter or flee as fast as possible. This is just one of those ships that no one wants to go against .... thus being a key addition to the military presence in the border worlds which are now under constant threat of pirate and guerrilla attacks.

Destroyed Junker Trade Lanes

In a surprise maneuver, the military sent a wave of small cloaked armed drones, to disrupt the trade lane network the guerrilla put in place, in hope that this will pave the way for a swift victory of their main forces stationed somewhere outside this sector. However their intel was wrong and thus their plan failed miserably. After all their drones opened fire they were immediatelly pinpointed by the sensors arrays installed on the trade lanes and soon destroyed by the missile defense system. Despite their surprise attack, the military only managed to destroy an insignificant number of the junker lanes, hardly affecting the guerrilla's defensive perimeter, but unwillingly they practically now handed their cloaking technology on a silver plate to the guerrilla scientists who recovered a few of the cloaked drones and probably are working around the clock to replicate the technology

Derelict mining station

Yesterday at 02:00 hours a civilian transport, chased and thrown off-course by a pirate gang, managed to reach a trading outpost with minor hull damages after ejecting its cargo. On it's way to the outpost the transport ship passed near the wreck of this mining station and took a few snapshots of it ... by the looks of it, the station has degraded very much since it was abandoned after the pirates tested their torpedoes on it, but talks are under way to reconstruct it in the near future.

Junker Trade Lane

After the guerrillas have taken control of the Ke'yra sector they started working fast in securing the place in order to transform this sector into their HQ as until now they were scattered all around the solar system but for the first time they have the opportunity to settle in one place, a place on the outskirts of the solar system, where they can easily spot any incoming enemy fleet.
As part of their efforts to establish a defensive perimeter they built what they call "Junker Trade Lanes" and fitted them with missile-based defensive systems. Basically these devices act like acceleration gates, "throwing" a ship in a certain direction at huge speeds .... perfect for fast deployment of ships on the battlefield. This type of acceleration gate is powered by solar panels and a device that captures the residual heat and gas from the engines of passing ships and converts this into energy. Guess the ingenuity of the guerrilla scientists knows no limits when it comes to converting junk from the scrap yard in to cutting edge technological devices.

The population of Inara voted, not long ago, to build a fleet of sleeperships, based on the ship that got them in this solar system, so that they would have the means to escape in case their enemies would ever learn about their existance in this part of the universe. This sleepership shown here in this image is the first off the production line and you quickly notice the design is a bit different, the domes are gone and so are the cargo pods. The reason behind this design change is classified but some people speculate that because of technology advances those features became obsolete.

Guerrillas have been very active in the entire solar system lately, as such few official convoys now travel without armed escorts. People say they're preparing a full scale attack against a strategic military objective and they will bring their latest ship class in the fight, the "Anna - V" Destroyer. It is unknown at the moment what specs does this ship have but considering the extraordinary capabilities the other guerrilla ships possess, this destroyer will be a force to be reckoned. The design is clearly guerrilla, it's uneven, boxy and scrapyard-like style, most likely as with the other guerrilla spaceships, one of a kind.
